Last week, Japanese player @gn02759909 posted a video that broke the Palworld community's collective brain. His Level 72 Tocotoco walks up to a tower boss, detonates itself with Megaton Implode, one-shots the boss, and strolls out of the smoke completely unscathed.
It wasn't an accident. It was Heavily Armored — a new passive skill that nobody paid attention to when the 1.0 patch notes dropped. And it turns out "immune to explosion damage" means all explosion damage. Including your own.
Here's how it works, how to breed it, and how to take it further than most guides will tell you.
What "Infinite Bomb" Actually Means
Tocotoco is Palworld's living grenade. It comes with Implode (300 power at level 1, Neutral) and learns Megaton Implode at level 22. In 1.0, Megaton Implode got a massive buff: power jumped from 500 to 1,200, making it one of the hardest-hitting single attacks in the game.
The catch was always the same — using it incapacitates your Pal. You get one shot, then you're reviving at the Palbox.
Heavily Armored removes that catch entirely. It's a Rainbow-tier passive with one line of text: "Immune to explosion damage." That immunity extends to self-inflicted explosion damage from Implode, Megaton Implode, Radiant Barrage, and Bee Quiet. Your Pal detonates, deals full damage, and its health bar doesn't move.
The only remaining limitation is the 60-second cooldown (up from 55 seconds pre-1.0 — Pocketpair apparently saw this coming). That's where the rest of the build comes in.
How to Get Heavily Armored
There are four routes. Pick based on how much you enjoy suffering:
Route 1: Catch Wild Pals (Low Effort, High RNG)
Every wild Pal you catch rolls up to four random passives. The new 1.0 regions drop Rainbow-tier passives more frequently than older zones. Grab a flying mount, fly around the World Tree area, and catch everything that glows. Eventually a Heavily Armored will show up. This is how @gn02759909 got theirs — pure volume.
Route 2: Surgery Table Implant (Zero RNG, Level-Gated)
Unlock the Pal Surgery Table at Technology Level 38. Buy a Disposable Implant: Heavily Armored from a Bounty Officer using Bounty Tokens. Apply it to any Pal. Done.
The Small Settlement Bounty Officer near the Plateau of Beginnings is the easiest to reach. Implants are consumed on use, so if you want to put Heavily Armored on multiple Pals, buy multiple implants. This is the fastest route if you're already endgame.
Route 3: Breeding Inheritance (Medium Effort, Controllable)
Once you have ONE Pal with Heavily Armored — doesn't matter which species — you can breed it onto anything:
| Scenario | Per-skill inheritance chance |
|---|---|
| Both parents have Heavily Armored | ~73% |
| One parent has it | ~31% |
| Neither parent (random mutation) | ~2% |
The strategy: catch or implant Heavily Armored onto any Pal, then chain-breed it through compatible species until it lands on Tocotoco. Key principle: keep the parent pool clean. Purify your seed parents to 1-2 passives before combining. A polluted gene pool drops perfect inheritance below 10%.
Route 4: Mutation Eggs (Very High RNG, Don't Rely on This)
Every breeding session has a small chance of producing a "mutated egg" that hatches carrying a Rainbow-tier mutation passive. Consider it a bonus if it happens — not a strategy.
Step-by-Step: Breeding the Perfect Tocotoco Bomb
Goal: a Tocotoco with four specific passives:
| Passive | Effect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Heavily Armored | Explosion immunity | Makes the build work |
| Serenity | -30% active skill cooldown, +10% attack | More bombs per minute |
| Savior | +30% Neutral attack, +30% Grass attack | Megaton Implode is Neutral — 30% multiplier |
| Immortality | +5% lifesteal, +100% regen, +15% attack | Heals chip damage between detonations |
Step 1 — Source the passives onto clean seed parents. Breed each target passive down to a 1-passive carrier Pal. Serenity is common on wild Pals. Savior comes from the ULTRAKILL collab. Immortality is the hardest — it doesn't roll on wild Pals. You MUST catch Alpha Necromus (raid boss) to source it, then breed it down. Substitute Musclehead (+30% attack) or Ferocious (+20% attack) while you work toward the full build.
Step 2 — Converge onto Tocotoco. Tocotoco has a breeding power of 1,340. The easiest parent combo is Lamball (1,470) + Fuddler (1,220), both catchable in the starting areas. There are roughly 50 different pairs that produce Tocotoco — if you already have some of the seed parents at a compatible breeding power, check if they can skip a step.
Step 3 — Stack the passives. Breed two clean seed parents carrying different target passives. Combined pool = 4 unique passives. Every egg has a 10% chance of inheriting all four. After about 22 eggs, you have a 90% cumulative chance of at least one perfect offspring.
Step 4 — Condense to 4-star. Sacrifice 116 additional Tocotoco (any passives). Boosts base stats and partner skill level. Worth it for tower bosses.
The Real Monster: Gorirat "Infinite Monkey Nuke"
Reddit user @AllbonesJones proposed breeding Megaton Implode + Heavily Armored onto a Gorirat:
- Gorirat is also Neutral-type — Megaton Implode gets STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus).
- Gorirat's Partner Skill, Full-Power Gorilla Mode, temporarily boosts Attack by up to 300% at rank 5 (buffed from 200% pre-1.0).
- You activate Gorilla Mode, fire Megaton Implode with a 300% steroid, and the Gorirat takes zero self-damage.
Three hundred percent. On a 1,200-power skill. With STAB.
The catch: Megaton Implode cannot be taught via Skill Fruit, and Tocotoco is the only Pal that learns it naturally. You must breed a Tocotoco that knows Megaton Implode with a compatible parent, producing a middle-generation Pal, then breed that offspring with something else, repeating until you land on Gorirat. This is a 3-4 generation chain that depends on what's in your Palbox.
Is it the highest DPS build in Palworld? No — a properly built Bellanoir Libero with Nightmare Bloom out-damages it over a long fight. But for one-shotting tower bosses in a single glorious frame? Nothing beats it.
One More Thing: The Cooldown Math
Serenity's cooldown reduction matters more than a third damage passive in prolonged fights:
| Build | Bombs per 3 min | Effective multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| Serenity (42s CD) | 4.3 | 1× (baseline) |
| No Serenity (60s CD) | 3 | 0.7× |
Four bombs at full damage beat three bombs at 130% damage. If you have to choose between a third attack passive and Serenity, pick Serenity.
